The first thing that you need to do is figure out what type of space you are going into. You can do this by looking at the inside of your door and seeing if there is a frame around it or not. If there is a frame around it then the size will be smaller than if there isn't and vice versa
If this is the case then measure from the center of each side of the frame (where it meets). This will give you an idea as to what size opening that you need for your window
If there isn't any frame around your door then measure from where the top of your door meets up with where the bottom meets up with your flooring (or drywall if used). Again, this will give you an idea as to what type of space you will have once installed and opened up fully.
