Large casement windows are a popular choice for homeowners looking to bring more natural light into their homes and create a more open and spacious feel. With their wide, unobstructed views and easy-to-operate mechanisms, it's no surprise that they are a top choice for those looking to upgrade or replace their existing windows. However, with so many factors to consider, it can be challenging to determine the cost of large casement windows. In this comprehensive guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about the costs associated with large casement windows, including materials, installation, and additional features.
One of the primary factors that will impact the cost of your large casement windows is the material used for the frames. Here, we'll explore some of the most common materials and their associated costs.
Vinyl is a popular choice for window frames due to its affordability, low maintenance, and energy efficiency. Vinyl windows are typically the least expensive option, with prices ranging from $300 to $800 per window, depending on the size and additional features.
Wooden window frames offer a classic, timeless look that many homeowners love. They are also energy-efficient and can be customized to match your home's style. However, wood windows require more maintenance than other materials and can be susceptible to warping and rotting if not properly cared for. The cost of wooden casement windows can range from $600 to $1,500 per window.
Aluminum frames are durable, low-maintenance, and resistant to corrosion. They are also lightweight, making them a popular choice for large casement windows. However, aluminum is not as energy-efficient as other materials, which can lead to higher energy bills. Expect to pay between $400 and $1,200 per aluminum casement window.
Fiberglass window frames are incredibly strong and durable, with excellent insulating properties. They are also low-maintenance and can be painted to match your home's exterior. Fiberglass windows are more expensive than vinyl or aluminum, with costs ranging from $600 to $1,500 per window.
In addition to the cost of the window itself, you'll also need to consider the cost of installation. Professional installation is highly recommended for large casement windows, as improper installation can lead to drafts, leaks, and reduced energy efficiency.
The cost of installation will vary depending on several factors, including the size and location of the window, the complexity of the installation, and whether any additional work (such as framing or trim) is required. On average, you can expect to pay between $150 and $800 per window for professional installation.
There are several additional features that you may want to consider when purchasing large casement windows, which can impact the overall cost.
Energy-efficient glass is designed to minimize heat transfer, keeping your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. While energy-efficient glass will increase the cost of your windows, it may be worth the investment in the long run. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $60 per window for energy-efficient glass.
Decorative glass options, such as stained or etched glass, can add a unique and beautiful touch to your casement windows. However, these options can also significantly increase the cost of your windows. Decorative glass can add anywhere from $100 to $500 or more per window, depending on the complexity of the design.
The hardware you choose for your casement windows, such as handles and locks, can also impact the overall cost. While basic hardware is typically included in the cost of the window, you may want to upgrade to more stylish or secure options. Upgraded hardware can add an additional $20 to $200 per window, depending on the materials and design.
As you can see, there are many factors to consider when determining the cost of large casement windows. By understanding the impact of materials, installation, and additional features, you can make an informed decision that best suits your needs and budget. Keep in mind that while the initial cost of casement windows may be higher than other options, they can also provide long-term benefits in terms of energy efficiency, ease of use, and aesthetic appeal. So, take your time to explore your options and find the perfect casement windows for your home.
Casement windows are the most common style of window. They feature hinged panels that swing open and closed. Casement windows are available in single panels or multiple panels. The direction a door swings, either to the right or the left, is called the handing. In addition to handing, window are identified as either inswing or outswing depending on whether they open into the house or towards the outside.

This newly built private house is in Sydney, Australia. The area occupied by the fenestration system in our scheduled design drawings was up to more than 110 square meters. A wide range of design details made the perfect mix of modern aesthetics and traditional sophistication, the simulated vertical hung windows with tilt & turn opening systems in this home are absolutely breathtaking. SDLS (Simulated Divided Lites with Spacer Bar) brings some historical vintage feeling to the whole building without losing any energy saving performance. Long narrow fixed windows creating larger-than-life expenses, coupled with German high-end systems made this project stand out from the rest.
The client's idea was to maintain a certain vintage feel, and our aim was to meet the energy efficiency needs and standards of modern houses as much as possible while maintaining a retro design. Doorwin’s 61S simulated hung windows with tilt & turn openings is a respectful modernization of a classic architectural masterwork.
Why choose the tilt and turn opening method?
Because it generally has better air seals than sliding, single hung, or double hung window frames. Tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, this means they are less prone to water leakage, and cold draughts and you’ll keep more of your heating indoors where it belongs. They can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status and are easy to clean outside of the glass; when there’s a good day, they can be opened as normal inward casement windows.
Our well-crafted bespoke systems enhance the functionality and panoramic view of this modern house.
Huge, fixed glass walls up to seven meters long and two meters high bring great lighting and open views, making it really refreshing to the mind. Five meters high long narrow windows give the whole building a contemporary aesthetic.
Every window’s placement and shape not only add to the uniqueness of this home but also provide a more energy-saving ability for the owners.
Doorwin energy-efficient integrated glazing units feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills of more than 100 USD for the owner, it’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.
Aluminum Door offered an air of uniqueness and elegance to a home. With their luxurious patterns and beautiful finishes, it provides this house with a bounty of aesthetics and security. Aluminum entry doors allow you to resist any weather extremes, corrosion, and pests. So aluminum is one of the most resilient and durable materials you can select for front doors considering the price/performance ratio.
With pieces of double panes, and Low-E tempered glass. The door provides a good insulation performance.
Divided lite windows and doors offer unique architectural solutions for buildings without compromising energy efficiency or aesthetics. Doorwin provides multiple muntin and glass options to customize your divided lite windows and doors. Further customization is available with a variety of colors and materials, creating an infinite number of design combinations to best suit your style.
In this project, we use SDLS (simulated divided lites with spacer bars), these bars permanently adhere to both sides of the glass, and spacer bars are installed between the glass, this is the most energy-efficient way to create the look of classical décor grilles. The windows in the bathroom bedroom and study have an Arch Transom Design, making these rooms, which are often used by the owner, have some traditional aesthetics.
