The classic European casement window is characterized by its tall, narrow design and outward-opening sashes. This style is prevalent in European countries, particularly in France and England, where it has been used since the medieval period. The European casement window is often made of wood and features intricate carvings and decorative elements, such as mullions and transoms.
These windows are perfect for traditional homes, as they add a touch of elegance and sophistication. They can also be used in modern homes to create a timeless and classic appearance. One of the most significant advantages of European casement windows is their ability to provide excellent ventilation, as the entire window can be opened to allow fresh air to flow through the room.
Prairie style casement windows are an American architectural style that originated in the early 20th century. They were popularized by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who used them in many of his iconic designs. Prairie style windows are characterized by their horizontal orientation, with long, narrow panes of glass separated by wooden mullions.
These windows are perfect for homes with a minimalist or contemporary design, as they provide clean lines and a sleek appearance. They can also be used in traditional homes to add a touch of modernity. One of the main benefits of prairie style casement windows is their ability to provide unobstructed views, as the horizontal design allows for large expanses of glass.
Colonial casement windows are a classic American style that dates back to the 17th century. They are characterized by their symmetrical design, with multiple small panes of glass separated by wooden mullions. These windows are typically found in traditional homes, such as Colonial, Georgian, and Federal style houses.
Colonial casement windows add a touch of historical charm to any home, making them perfect for homeowners who appreciate classic architectural styles. They can also be used in modern homes to create a unique and eye-catching contrast. One of the main benefits of colonial casement windows is their ability to provide excellent insulation, as the multiple panes of glass help to keep heat in and cold out.
Modern casement windows are characterized by their minimalist design, with large panes of glass and minimal framing. These windows are perfect for contemporary homes, as they provide a sleek and streamlined appearance. They can also be used in traditional homes to create a striking contrast and add a touch of modernity.
One of the main benefits of modern casement windows is their ability to provide unobstructed views and ample natural light, as the large panes of glass allow for maximum visibility. They are also energy-efficient, as the minimal framing reduces the amount of heat that can escape through the window.
Craftsman casement windows are a popular American architectural style that originated in the early 20th century. They are characterized by their sturdy construction, with thick wooden frames and mullions. Craftsman windows often feature decorative elements, such as stained glass or leaded glass panes.
These windows are perfect for homes with a rustic or craftsman-style design, as they add a touch of warmth and character. They can also be used in modern homes to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. One of the main benefits of craftsman casement windows is their durability, as the sturdy construction ensures that they will last for many years.
In summary, casement windows are a versatile and functional choice for any home, with a wide range of styles to suit any architectural design. Whether you prefer the classic elegance of European casement windows, the sleek lines of modern casement windows, or the historical charm of colonial casement windows, there is a style to suit your needs. This newly built private house is in Sydney, Australia. The area occupied by the fenestration system in our scheduled design drawings was up to more than 110 square meters. A wide range of design details made the perfect mix of modern aesthetics and traditional sophistication, the simulated vertical hung windows with tilt & turn opening systems in this home are absolutely breathtaking. SDLS (Simulated Divided Lites with Spacer Bar) brings some historical vintage feeling to the whole building without losing any energy saving performance. Long narrow fixed windows creating larger-than-life expenses, coupled with German high-end systems made this project stand out from the rest.
The client's idea was to maintain a certain vintage feel, and our aim was to meet the energy efficiency needs and standards of modern houses as much as possible while maintaining a retro design. Doorwin’s 61S simulated hung windows with tilt & turn openings is a respectful modernization of a classic architectural masterwork.
Why choose the tilt and turn opening method?
Because it generally has better air seals than sliding, single hung, or double hung window frames. Tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, this means they are less prone to water leakage, and cold draughts and you’ll keep more of your heating indoors where it belongs. They can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status and are easy to clean outside of the glass; when there’s a good day, they can be opened as normal inward casement windows.
Our well-crafted bespoke systems enhance the functionality and panoramic view of this modern house.
Huge, fixed glass walls up to seven meters long and two meters high bring great lighting and open views, making it really refreshing to the mind. Five meters high long narrow windows give the whole building a contemporary aesthetic.
Every window’s placement and shape not only add to the uniqueness of this home but also provide a more energy-saving ability for the owners.
Doorwin energy-efficient integrated glazing units feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills of more than 100 USD for the owner, it’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.
