If you're looking to revamp your home with a fresh new look and improve its energy efficiency, custom casement windows might be the perfect solution. These versatile and attractive windows offer a myriad of benefits, from increased natural light to better ventilation and enhanced curb appeal. In this blog post, we'll explore the various aspects of custom casement windows, including their benefits, design options, and tips for choosing the right windows for your home.
Casement windows are hinged windows that open outward, usually operated by a crank or lever. They are a popular choice for homeowners due to their versatility, ease of use, and energy efficiency. Custom casement windows are tailor-made to fit your specific needs and preferences, ensuring that you get the perfect windows for your home.
There are numerous advantages to choosing custom casement windows for your home. Some of the key benefits include:
One of the primary reasons homeowners opt for custom casement windows is their superior energy efficiency. Due to their tight seal when closed, casement windows effectively prevent drafts and air leaks, helping you save on heating and cooling costs. In addition, many custom casement windows feature double or triple-pane glass, further enhancing their insulation properties.
Casement windows are designed to catch side breezes, allowing fresh air to flow freely into your home. This can be especially beneficial in rooms that require good ventilation, such as kitchens and bathrooms. The ability to control the angle of the window opening also enables you to direct the airflow as needed.
The large, unobstructed glass surface of casement windows allows for an abundance of natural light to enter your home. This can help create a brighter, more inviting living space and even reduce your reliance on artificial lighting during the day.
Custom casement windows often come with multi-point locking systems, providing an added layer of security for your home. The fact that they open outward also makes it more difficult for intruders to force their way in.
With their sleek, modern design, custom casement windows can significantly enhance your home's curb appeal. The wide variety of design options available also allows you to create a unique look that complements your home's architectural style.
When it comes to customizing your casement windows, the possibilities are nearly endless. Some popular design options include:
Casement window frames can be made from various materials, including wood, vinyl, aluminum, and fiberglass. Each material has its own set of benefits and drawbacks, so it's essential to consider factors such as durability, maintenance, and aesthetics when making your choice.
As mentioned earlier, custom casement windows often come with double or triple-pane glass for improved energy efficiency. You can also choose from various glass types, such as low-E glass to reduce UV rays, decorative glass for added style, or even impact-resistant glass for homes in hurricane-prone areas.
From traditional crank handles to sleek, modern levers, there's a wide range of hardware options available for custom casement windows. You can also choose from various finishes to match your home's existing décor.
Custom casement windows can be painted or stained in virtually any color to suit your home's exterior or interior design. Some manufacturers also offer pre-finished options, making the installation process even more straightforward.
Adding grilles or mullions to your custom casement windows can create a more traditional or decorative look. These can be permanently affixed to the glass or designed as removable for easy cleaning.
To ensure that you select the perfect custom casement windows for your home, consider the following tips:
1. Assess your home's architectural style and choose a window design that complements it.
2. Determine your budget and prioritize the features that are most important to you.
3. Consult with a professional window installer or designer for guidance on selecting the right materials, glass options, and design elements.
4. Consider the location and purpose of the windows – for example, prioritize ventilation in kitchens and bathrooms, or opt for impact-resistant glass in hurricane-prone areas.
5. Don't forget about maintenance – some materials, such as vinyl and fiberglass, require less upkeep than wood.
In summary, custom casement windows offer a stylish and energy-efficient option for homeowners looking to improve their home's appearance and functionality. By carefully considering the various design options and selecting the right features for your needs, you can create a stunning and comfortable living space that you'll enjoy for years to come.
Casement windows are the most common style of window. They feature hinged panels that swing open and closed. Casement windows are available in single panels or multiple panels. The direction a door swings, either to the right or the left, is called the handing. In addition to handing, window are identified as either inswing or outswing depending on whether they open into the house or towards the outside.

This newly built private house is in Sydney, Australia. The area occupied by the fenestration system in our scheduled design drawings was up to more than 110 square meters. A wide range of design details made the perfect mix of modern aesthetics and traditional sophistication, the simulated vertical hung windows with tilt & turn opening systems in this home are absolutely breathtaking. SDLS (Simulated Divided Lites with Spacer Bar) brings some historical vintage feeling to the whole building without losing any energy saving performance. Long narrow fixed windows creating larger-than-life expenses, coupled with German high-end systems made this project stand out from the rest.
The client's idea was to maintain a certain vintage feel, and our aim was to meet the energy efficiency needs and standards of modern houses as much as possible while maintaining a retro design. Doorwin’s 61S simulated hung windows with tilt & turn openings is a respectful modernization of a classic architectural masterwork.
Why choose the tilt and turn opening method?
Because it generally has better air seals than sliding, single hung, or double hung window frames. Tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, this means they are less prone to water leakage, and cold draughts and you’ll keep more of your heating indoors where it belongs. They can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status and are easy to clean outside of the glass; when there’s a good day, they can be opened as normal inward casement windows.
Our well-crafted bespoke systems enhance the functionality and panoramic view of this modern house.
Huge, fixed glass walls up to seven meters long and two meters high bring great lighting and open views, making it really refreshing to the mind. Five meters high long narrow windows give the whole building a contemporary aesthetic.
Every window’s placement and shape not only add to the uniqueness of this home but also provide a more energy-saving ability for the owners.
Doorwin energy-efficient integrated glazing units feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills of more than 100 USD for the owner, it’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.
Aluminum Door offered an air of uniqueness and elegance to a home. With their luxurious patterns and beautiful finishes, it provides this house with a bounty of aesthetics and security. Aluminum entry doors allow you to resist any weather extremes, corrosion, and pests. So aluminum is one of the most resilient and durable materials you can select for front doors considering the price/performance ratio.
With pieces of double panes, and Low-E tempered glass. The door provides a good insulation performance.
Divided lite windows and doors offer unique architectural solutions for buildings without compromising energy efficiency or aesthetics. Doorwin provides multiple muntin and glass options to customize your divided lite windows and doors. Further customization is available with a variety of colors and materials, creating an infinite number of design combinations to best suit your style.
In this project, we use SDLS (simulated divided lites with spacer bars), these bars permanently adhere to both sides of the glass, and spacer bars are installed between the glass, this is the most energy-efficient way to create the look of classical décor grilles. The windows in the bathroom bedroom and study have an Arch Transom Design, making these rooms, which are often used by the owner, have some traditional aesthetics.
