Tips on Framing A Large Picture Window

To frame a large picture window, first measure the opening. Measure from the bottom of the frame to the top of the frame. This measurement is the width of your picture frame and should be about 1 inch less than the actual size of your picture window

Add another 1/2 inch on either side for framing purposes. This will allow for trimming around the edge when you hang your picture

Next, measure from one corner of your picture to another corner of your picture and add 1/3 more than that measurement to each side. This will allow room for trimming as well as helping you find where to hang your pictures once they are hung on their own frames

Once you have these measurements in mind, find an appropriate sized frame at a local store or online (if you can find one). You can also check with other people who have this same type of window if they have any ideas on how they framed their pictures or what worked best for them.
