Today we’re going to show you a project case with Doorwin Wood+ Tilt & Turn Windows. These windows use a solid red oak with an extra aluminum exterior cladding, and Germany-origin brand Siegenia hardware system, and the highlight is, our remote-control built-in shutters, this function makes you remotely and instantly change your room’s sunlight or privacy things.
This project is located in Windsor, Canada. Windsor has a semi-continental climate, with a warm, humid summer and a cold winter. And as a private home, the client's main requirement was to match the original decor of the house as closely as possible while maintaining energy efficiency and insulation functions of thermal and sound. Working closely with the client, we were able to infuse elements of function and style into this house.
Double pane, Low-E, argon gas filled, tempered glass is our standard option, and it will undoubtedly meet the local CSA energy-efficiency standard, not to mention that frames made out of solid woods are the best insulation material.
For effortless privacy control, we provided remote control built-in shutters, these shutters are a popular choice for interior shutters.
Built-in shutters provide privacy with light control, normally manual operation is lifting or lowering a rod. This rod is mounted to the side of the louvers. Like other enhancements you can make to your home, investing in built-in shutters improves your home’s appearance and functionalities. People like them because of the four reasons below:
Can be controlled remotely, easy to operate.

Remote control window shutters give you complete control at your fingertips, and remote controls offer the ultimate in 21st-century living, making life freer and offering freedom at the touch of a button. They'll allow you to adjust your surroundings to exactly suit your mood, without leaving the comfort of your seat.
The tilt and turn window can both tilt inwards at the top or open inwards from hinges at the side. This is the most typical kind of window in Germany, its native land. It is likewise widespread in many other European nations. In Europe, it is typical for these to be of the "turn first" kind. i.e., when the handle is counted on 90 levels the window opens up in the side hung mode. With the handle transformed to 180 levels, the window opens in the bottom open mode.
Doorwin’s premium tilt and turn windows are more resistant to blustery weather while maintaining functions like air-tightness, alternative ventilation way, and accessibilities; tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, and they can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status, when there’s a good day, it can be opened as normal inward casement windows. As for the cost, a regular wood casement window average costs 600-800$ in the US market while our tilt and turn windows just need 300-600$ with higher standards in manufacturing, hardware, and energy efficiency abilities.
In this project, we chose red oak wood as the main profile for the windows. Since our client's house has a red roof and staircase, so we painted the windows’ exterior red.
Doorwin’s specially maintained wood windows can have a very long life. Our German environmentally friendly water-based paint protects the surface and allows an easy change in color schemes.
Wood windows own natural wood grain, a beautiful look and excellent insulation, and it adds a natural feeling to a home, which any other window material cannot compare. Solid wood is the best insulation profile, it is favored in many residential applications because of its appearance and traditional place in house design. From a thermal point of view, wood-framed windows perform well with frame U-factors in the range of 0.3 to 0.5 Btu/hr-sq. ft-°F.
But the disadvantages are also obvious, solid wood is more prone to damage and corrosion, requiring higher maintenance costs, so we clad the exterior face of the frame with aluminum, creating a permanent weather-resistant surface.
Doorwin provides the highest quality aluminum on the Wood+ series, which means solid wood is the main material while plus aluminum cladding on the exterior. The exterior cladding thus has lower maintenance requirements, while retaining the attractive wood finish on the interior.
Located in the far south of Ontario, Windsor has a semi-continental climate, with a warm, humid summer and the wetter season lasts 6.4 months. This situation makes rain falls throughout the year in Windsor. So in the design scheme, we added weep holes on the window frames. When the time comes to purchase new or replacement windows it's important to look at the details. One of those details is the weep holes.
Window sills are the same shape as the window jambs so that the tracks holding the window sash collect and contain water when they function as the sill in the lower horizontal frame position. Without weep holes, this water could not drain. Windows are regularly exposed to outside elements including water from rain, sprinklers, and your garden hose and water can work its way down the frame and into some of the operable parts of the window. To prevent water from getting into your home from the window opening, it needs to have a way to escape. That's where weep holes come in.
Considering the climate in the client's area, we installed Doorwin exclusive weep holes in the windows, which are easy to maintain and drain 30% more efficiently than other products on market. If you have the same concern or plan, contact us right now.
Meeting the US standards and NFRC & CSA certifications. Our energy-efficient integrated glazing units (IGU) feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills around 300~500USD per year according to your whole building’s fenestration areas. That’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.
Many people have asked similar questions -- what makes Doorwin attractive? That is a common and essential question. Well, for a construction professional like you, what you worry about are mostly 4 types —— Easy installation, maintenance free, manufacturing time, and overall cost.
Firstly, is easy installation. We have several international patents to reduce clients’ labor costs, such as our unique flanges and assembly type tubular design. It helps to easily install the windows. You cannot easily find the nailing flange in other companies, which is what sets us apart from our Chinese counterparts is that all our products are equipped with nail fin structures for quick and easy installation. Labor costs during installation may exceed the window and door prices, therefore, the longer the project takes, it means you are losing money. We help our customer make the work done in a shorter time. In this way, we save more money for them.
The word "energy efficiency" is undoubtedly one of the most frequent words in recent years. We have heard the saying that in the next coming 20 years, the most energy consumed thing is not industry, not transportation, but our house. The energy consumption of doors and windows occupies a large proportion of the houses’ energy consumption.
Every type of Doorwin’s product is made for higher performance of energy efficiency, reaching the highest level of US and EU standards, no matter the sound and thermal insulation or the air and water tightness. We export tens of millions of dollars of windows and doors to the U.S. every year, and we know that improper packaging can cause breakage of the product when it arrives on site, and the biggest loss from this is, I'm afraid, the cost of time, after all, workers on site have requirements of working time and it need to wait for a new shipment to arrive in case of damage occurs to the goods. So, we pack each window individually and in four layers, and finally into (non-fumigated) wooden boxes, and at the same time there will be a lot of shockproof measures in the container, to protect your products . We are very experienced on how to pack and protect our products to ensure them to arrive at the sites in good condition after the long-distance transportation. What the client concerns, we concern most.
Thirdly is about the manufacturing time. It’s common hesitation when you buy windows from a foreign company. We would like to send you pictures and videos to have a look at our factories. We can finalize the production in about 18 days and shipping to you cost 30 days if it’s an urgent project. In about 45 days you will receive your windows. We are taking the same manufacturing daytime as you buy locally.
Our products are manufactured in 3 wholly owned manufacturing plants across China, a large state of the factories, sufficient to supply the largest projects, whilst remaining competitive. Over 100,000㎡ factory area with 500,000㎡ /year production capacity, so that means we can make the fastest possible production and fastest delivery of our products to meet clients’ time demands.
