In the past, buses have had side mounted sliding doors. This type of door is better than the newer front mounted option which uses the same mechanism but can become very expensive to install and maintain over time. So what are they
The front mounted door is similar to a side mounted door in terms of its operation. From the outside looking in, it looks like a normal window that slides up and down. However, on the inside, it has a separate set of mechanisms for opening and closing. The window itself is still fixed and does not move at all like in a side-mounted setup. This can be quite advantageous if you want to keep your windows from getting damaged from people walking into them as well as any objects that may fall into them from overhead
The main reason why this design is better than the one we have now is because it doesn’t require any additional hardware or modifications to your bus itself when installing it on the outside. All you need is an existing doorframe with hinges attached to it and you are good to go! Whereas if you were to install a side-mounted door, that means having to modify every single bus on your fleet with new hinges and mounts which can be very expensive especially if they need

Swinging doors are available in single panels or multiple panels. The direction a door swings, either to the right or the left, is called the handing. In addition to handing, exterior doors are identified as either inswing or outswing depending on whether they open into the house or towards the outside.
