Step 1: Mark the locations of the holes for the pins in your new door. Using the template provided by your manufacturer, mark out where the holes should go. The template will also help you to determine how wide the holes should be. The width of these holes will vary depending on what type of hinges and hardware you choose to use on your door
Step 2: Drill pilot holes into each location where you marked off with your pencil/paintbrush/chisel/whatever tool you chose to use as a marking device (we used a chisel). This step is very important because it prevents your wood from splitting when you put screws in it later. If you skip this step, then when you screw in those pins later on down the road, they'll end up sticking out past where they're supposed to go and make for ugly looking doors that may even start to warp over time or get splinters or something
