How to Install a Door Swing Chart

1.Measure the width of your door frame and add 2 to it

2.Measure the length of your door frame and add 2 to it

3.Calculate the total distance from both sides of the swing chart to each side of the door opening using a tape measure or ruler. (The distance from one side of the door opening to the other is called the dead space.

4.Determine how many inches in height your door needs by taking measurements from top to bottom, left to right and front to back for all three sides of your door frame. Add 3/4 for a gap at top and bottom of each side, 1/4 for a gap at each side and 1/2 for a gap at each end (for a total gap height of 4). This can be done with a carpenter's square and measuring tape or by simply eyeballing it until you are satisfied that you have measured everything correctly

5.Cut two pieces of wood using your pattern as a guide, making sure that they fit snugly around all four sides without gaps or overlaps so that they will not rotate when installed on hinges in your doorway (if this is important). You should be able to see through these
