Are you considering installing a lift and slide door in your home but unsure about the leveling process? Look no further! In this blog post, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of leveling a lift and slide door properly. With our easy-to-follow instructions and helpful tips, you'll be able to ensure a seamless and perfectly aligned installation. Let's get started!
Before you begin the leveling process, make sure you have the following tools handy:
The first step is to carefully inspect the door frame and surrounding area. Check for any structural issues or interferences that may affect the leveling process. Make sure the opening is clear and clean before proceeding.
Using a tape measure, measure the height of the opening at multiple points to identify any irregularities. Mark the highest point, the lowest point, and the midpoint of the opening to serve as references during the leveling process.
Begin by adjusting the door frame vertically using the leveling tool. Start from the highest point, gradually moving down, and place wedge shims under the frame to level it properly. Use the level frequently to check for any deviations from the desired level position.
Next, focus on leveling the sill, which is the bottom part of the door frame. Adjust it horizontally using the leveling tool, making sure it is parallel to the floor. Again, utilize wedge shims to achieve a level position, and always verify with the leveling tool for accuracy.
Once the frame and sill are properly leveled, test the door's operation. Open and close it multiple times to ensure it moves smoothly along the track without any resistance. Make any necessary adjustments to the leveling if needed.
Now that the lift and slide door is adequately leveled, secure it in place using screws and an adjustable wrench. Double-check all the wedge shims to ensure they are tightly secured. Fine-tune the leveling as needed by adding or removing shims to achieve a perfect fit.
Once the door is secured, use the leveling tool again to verify that everything is perfectly level. Check both the vertical and horizontal positioning to ensure the door is aligned correctly.
Lastly, remove any excess shims and clean the area around the door. Apply a silicone sealant around the edges to prevent air and water leakage, providing additional insulation and protection.
Congratulations! You have successfully leveled your lift and slide door. Now you can enjoy the beauty and functionality of this modern door system in your home.
