Uncovering the True Cost of Andersen Casement Windows

Introduction

When it comes to home improvement, windows play a vital role in enhancing the overall appearance and energy efficiency of your living space. One of the most popular window styles is the casement window, known for its versatility and ease of operation. Among the top manufacturers of casement windows, Andersen stands out as a trusted and reliable brand. But how much do Andersen casement windows cost? In this blog post, we'll dive into the factors that influence the price of these windows, and help you determine if they're the right fit for your home.

Factors Affecting the Cost of Andersen Casement Windows

1. Material

Andersen casement windows are available in a variety of materials, each with its own price range. The most common materials include:

Wood: Known for their natural beauty and durability, wood casement windows are the most expensive option. Andersen offers their A-Series and E-Series windows in wood, with prices starting at around $800 per window.

Fibrex: Andersen's patented Fibrex material is a composite blend of wood fibers and thermoplastic polymers. It offers the look of wood without the maintenance, and is used in their 100 Series casement windows. Prices for Fibrex windows start at around $400 per window.

Vinyl: Vinyl casement windows are the most affordable option. Andersen's 200 Series windows are made of vinyl, with prices starting at around $300 per window.

2. Size

The size of the casement window will also impact the cost. Larger windows require more materials and labor to manufacture and install, resulting in higher prices. For example, a small casement window measuring 24" x 36" may cost around $400, while a larger window measuring 48" x 60" could cost upwards of $1,000.

3. Glass Options

Andersen offers several glass options for their casement windows, each with its own price point. Some of the available options include:

Low-E Glass: This energy-efficient glass helps reduce heat transfer and UV rays, keeping your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Low-E glass typically adds around $50 to $100 to the cost of each window.

Tempered Glass: This type of glass is stronger and safer than standard glass, making it ideal for use in areas where safety is a concern. Tempered glass can add an additional $100 to $200 per window.

Decorative Glass: Andersen also offers a variety of decorative glass options, including patterned, tinted, and obscure glass. These options can add a unique touch to your windows but may increase the cost by $100 to $300 per window.

4. Hardware and Accessories

The hardware and accessories you choose for your Andersen casement windows will also affect the overall cost. Some of the available options include:

Locks: Andersen offers a variety of lock styles and finishes to complement your window design. Upgraded locks can add $20 to $50 per window.

Window Grilles: Adding window grilles can enhance the appearance of your casement windows and match the architectural style of your home. Grilles can add $50 to $200 per window, depending on the design and material.

Window Screens: Andersen casement windows come with a standard insect screen, but you can upgrade to a TruScene insect screen for improved visibility and airflow. This upgrade can add $50 to $100 per window.

5. Installation

The cost of installing Andersen casement windows will vary depending on the complexity of the project and the rates of your local window installation professionals. On average, installation costs can range from $100 to $300 per window.

Estimating the Total Cost

To estimate the total cost of Andersen casement windows for your home, consider the factors listed above and multiply the per-window cost by the number of windows you plan to replace. Keep in mind that these figures are rough estimates, and the actual cost may vary depending on your location, specific window choices, and installation requirements.

Finding the Best Value

While Andersen casement windows may come with a higher price tag compared to other window brands, their high-quality construction, energy efficiency, and long-lasting durability make them a worthwhile investment. To ensure you're getting the best value for your money, take the time to compare different window materials, styles, and options within the Andersen product line, and obtain quotes from multiple installation professionals.

In the end, the cost of Andersen casement windows will depend on the specific choices you make for your home. By understanding the factors that influence the price and carefully considering your options, you can make an informed decision that will enhance the beauty, comfort, and value of your living space for years to come.

INSPIRATION & SOLUTION

This newly built private house is in Sydney, Australia. The area occupied by the fenestration system in our scheduled design drawings was up to more than 110 square meters. A wide range of design details made the perfect mix of modern aesthetics and traditional sophistication, the simulated vertical hung windows with tilt & turn opening systems in this home are absolutely breathtaking. SDLS (Simulated Divided Lites with Spacer Bar) brings some historical vintage feeling to the whole building without losing any energy saving performance. Long narrow fixed windows creating larger-than-life expenses, coupled with German high-end systems made this project stand out from the rest.

Simulated Hung Window with Tilt & Turn Openings

The client's idea was to maintain a certain vintage feel, and our aim was to meet the energy efficiency needs and standards of modern houses as much as possible while maintaining a retro design. Doorwin’s 61S simulated hung windows with tilt & turn openings is a respectful modernization of a classic architectural masterwork.

Why choose the tilt and turn opening method?

Because it generally has better air seals than sliding, single hung, or double hung window frames. Tilt and turn windows form a complete seal when fully closed, this means they are less prone to water leakage, and cold draughts and you’ll keep more of your heating indoors where it belongs. They can be opened in the upper tilt way to ventilate at a minimum opening status and are easy to clean outside of the glass; when there’s a good day, they can be opened as normal inward casement windows.

Large Energy Efficient Fixed Windows

Our well-crafted bespoke systems enhance the functionality and panoramic view of this modern house.

Huge, fixed glass walls up to seven meters long and two meters high bring great lighting and open views, making it really refreshing to the mind. Five meters high long narrow windows give the whole building a contemporary aesthetic.

Every window’s placement and shape not only add to the uniqueness of this home but also provide a more energy-saving ability for the owners.

Doorwin energy-efficient integrated glazing units feature double-pane glass, warm-edge spacers, argon gas fill, Low-E coatings, and fully tempered glass, they can not only create a comfortable and natural indoor environment but also save electricity bills and heating bills of more than 100 USD for the owner, it’s a real bargain compared to choosing a regular glazing set.

Custom Designed Thermal Break Aluminum Entry Door

Aluminum Door offered an air of uniqueness and elegance to a home. With their luxurious patterns and beautiful finishes, it provides this house with a bounty of aesthetics and security. Aluminum entry doors allow you to resist any weather extremes, corrosion, and pests. So aluminum is one of the most resilient and durable materials you can select for front doors considering the price/performance ratio.

With pieces of double panes, and Low-E tempered glass. The door provides a good insulation performance.

Custom Designed Grilles and Transom

Divided lite windows and doors offer unique architectural solutions for buildings without compromising energy efficiency or aesthetics. Doorwin provides multiple muntin and glass options to customize your divided lite windows and doors. Further customization is available with a variety of colors and materials, creating an infinite number of design combinations to best suit your style.

In this project, we use SDLS (simulated divided lites with spacer bars), these bars permanently adhere to both sides of the glass, and spacer bars are installed between the glass, this is the most energy-efficient way to create the look of classical décor grilles. The windows in the bathroom bedroom and study have an Arch Transom Design, making these rooms, which are often used by the owner, have some traditional aesthetics.

In this project, Doorwin uses Hoppe™ multi-point locks, hinges, and handles from Germany.

Multi-point lock systems provide not only the burglar-resistance but also a tighter compression seam, making the window keeps good energy-efficient performance. Together with Technoform Bautec’s insulation edge bond and sealant strips, these make up our products' top insulation and energy-saving performance.
